ABA tip!

Pair something that is not reinforcing with a known reinforcer.

Sound complicated? Not really, we all do it already. Kinda like whistling while you work. Our kids might not find it reinforcing to get their homework done, get good grades, clean their room, or socialize with peers, but if we “pair” those activities with points that they use to get what they want (wii time, computer time),  things they do like (special snacks, choices, free time), or a medium of exchange (a movie or card game) then they will find the original “unreinforcing” activity “reinforcing”.  Easy!
