I might have all the answers, but what good does that do Belle?

I have learned, often the hard way, that advice from mom goes in one ear and out the other. It’s pretty age typical, but when you have a child with special needs it’s more than that. CBI (cognitive behavioral therapy) is built on the premise that the patient will learn to problem solve on their own, identify their responsibility in interactions and reactions, and evaluate the effect of the changes they make in themselves and their behavior to see the positive or to continue to make more changes.

Basically, if Belle is upset about something, it will be more helpful to her for me to sit back and listen as she works through it (as painful as that can be) then to give her “all the answers”.

I’m only mom and I don’t have autism- I could never really have all the answers anyway.
